core problems
- differentiating between photos of the user that hosts the site and photos of other users (e.g. group members or contacts) is difficult
- the connection between the menu and the user is not clear nor evident
- if the "photos" section has a submenu "tags", groups and contacts as well should have it
- it is unclear how to send a photo to a group or a set – both should be possible already during upload
- communicating that this is actually done from the individual photo page
- adding a user as a contact is a bit hidden
- creator of a photo is not evident
- visual clues, such as avatar
- menu/navigation structure for groups is not sufficient: e.g. how to see all tags of a group? where to put this sub-navigation?
still missing
- links to rss-subscriptions
- adding favorites
- delete a contact
- link to adding a photo to a set
open questions
- To which degree the groups can be searched and fully browsed on a non-host site? To which degree content is duplicated?
- How to communicate/display on whose site the visitor is (e.g. with an avatar in the header, different layout, title, …) and to which person the menu items refer?
- users are used to centralied services such as Fotolog and Flickr. It is important to communicate that every person has her own site.
- Tags and search pages that should work for photos from different sources (host, contact, group members) and the user should easily understand on which types of objects they apply
> for the study it would be better to create differing templates for different users
